How much does Skin Video cost?

1. Monthly Membership
A subscription to Skin Video is $14.95 USD per 30 days. You will be billed $14.95 when you sign up and every 30 days thereafter to continue your membership. You may cancel any time you want by visiting our unsubscribe page.

2. Multi-month Discounted Membership
To save on your monthly subscription, you can select a discounted multi-month subscription to Skin Video. Pay a one time charge for the number of months you decide to subscribe. These subscription periods range from 3 months (90 day) to 12 months (360 days) and are priced at a substantial discount to the monthly membership price. In addition to saving you money, the multi-month option is popular for those users that seek to avoid seeing recurring monthly credit card charges from SVG Technology, INC. To avoid a recurring charge at the end of your subscription period, log in and visit our unsubscribe page prior to the renewal date. Contact customer support for specific inquiries.

3. Trial Membership
You can select a trial period to Skin Video. For only $2.95 you get full access to all that Skin Video has to offer for 3 days (72 hours). At the end of the 3 days you will be charged the standard monthly subscription cost of US $14.95 unless you log in and cancel your account through the unsubscribe page or call customer support.

Not from the United States? Your credit card company will automatically exchange to your local currency. Here are some typical exchange rates.

Can I pay by check or money order?

Sorry, right now we can only accept Visa and Mastercard payments

What will appear on my credit card statement?

Our name appears as SVG Technology, INC. on your monthly credit card statement.

Why was my credit card declined

when I tried to sign up?

Most likely the address you typed in did not match the address on record with your credit card company. Make sure you type the address exactly as it appears on your statement, or verify the information with your credit card company.

Why did my credit card get charged

after I was declined by the fraud service?

The short answer is that we didn’t actually charge your card. The long answer is that credit card charges are done in 2 stages. When you fill out the subscription form, we send an authorization request to your credit card company. The credit card company sends us a response to tell us if the card is valid and can be charged for the amount we requested, and if the address on the card matches the address you gave us.

They also reserve the funds to make sure the money will still be available when we complete the transaction. If the address you typed in matches the address on the card, and the information passes some other fraud checking tests, then we put the transaction into a batch to complete, which transfers the funds from your account to ours.

If not then we will display a message that the transaction was declined by the fraud service. Unfortunately we don’t have any way to cancel the authorization, so it may show up as a pending charge and your available credit may be reduced until the authorization expires. The amount of time this takes is controlled by your credit card company but is usually a few days.
Why do I get a security warning message when I use the secure login?

After you log in you are sent back to the previous page, which normally is not encrypted. This is ok because at that point you have already logged in securely. If you go to the secure login page from another secure page, like our contact page, then you will not see this message.
Why does Skin Video need my email address?

We feel the fastest and most discrete way to communicate with our customers is via email. If there is a problem with your bill, if our site changes or for other important reasons we will contact you via email.

Logging In

I’m having problems logging in.

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

There could be several reasons why you are unable to login:

- If your username and password do not work in Windows Media Player: This problem is caused by Windows Update 810847 (MS03-004) February 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer. Microsoft has released a fix for this problem which is available at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/813951/default.asp. This update may also be available at windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

- Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure your Caps Lock is not on.

- Your account may have been suspended (because Skin Video detected it was being shared by more than one user in violation of Skin Video’s terms of service). If Skin Video suspends your account for this reason it sends an email to the address you provided to Skin Video. This email contains information regarding how to revalidate your account.

- Another possibility is that your last billing period ended and Skin Video was unable to rebill your credit card to pay for the next 30 days of access. If this charge was declined by your credit card company for any reason, Skin Video will inform you of this problem via the email address you provided to Skin Video. If you do not reply promptly to this email to rectify the situation, Skin Video will delete your account.

- To check the status of your account, or if you have forgotten your username or password, go to the Lost Password Help page.

Please contact us if none of the above helps solve your problem.

I forgot my password!

If you remember the email address you gave to us, or your username, then try the Lost Password Help page.

Otherwise, contact us.

My Account

How do I cancel my subscription?

Members can cancel any time by visiting the unsubscribe page.

Please note that you must log into your account to be able to access the ‘unsubscribe page’.

My account was suspended,

what do I do?

If your credit card has expired and we can’t bill you, then your account will be suspended. Normally we will send you an email ahead of time, notifying you that your credit card will expire soon and that you need to provide us with a new expiration date or new credit card information.

Password sharing on Skin Video is NOT permitted. If we detect that multiple users have been sharing the same account, we will suspend it immediately and notify the person who is paying for the account.

Is what I’m viewing confidential?

Yes. Skin Video only keeps overall statistics so that we can monitor which content is the most popular. We NEVER give out information about our users under any circumstances.

How do I change my preferences?

Your preferences are located in the “Sort and Filter” Button at the top of every page.

Why aren’t my preferences being saved?

Check to make sure your computer’s date settings are correct. If the date settings are not the problem, deleting your cookies may help. Also make sure that your browser is set to allow all cookies from Skin Video.

Downloading

I’m having problems downloading and/or

playing videos. What should I do?

Please read our Video Format Guide.

If you still have problems please contact us.

I’m having problems with slow downloads.

What could be causing this?

There are several things that could cause your downloads to become much slower:

- If you are downloading things from other sites at the same time you are downloading stuff from Skin Video.

- If you have peer-to-peer file sharing programs running in the background (e.g. BitTorrent, eDonkey, Kazaa, iMesh, Limewire, Bearshare … etc.).

- Skin Video at times intentionally slows down user’s transfers and/or prevents simultaneous downloads. However, if you are a normal user browsing the site manually according to our terms of service, you should never be slowed down intentionally by our servers.
If you are using a program or script to pull down multiple files at the same time or to spider the site (which is forbidden by our terms of service), then files sent to you will be intentionally slowed down and some requests will be denied. $15 a month does not pay for T1 size bandwidth to your machine.

Why can I only download

Skin Video’s images as BMPs?

Internet Explorer has a bug in it that causes it to sometimes only allow the user to download an image as a bloated .BMP file when the image is actually a GIF or JPEG. Click here to see what Microsoft has to say about this issue. The short answer is that you usually can fix this problem by either (1) clearing IE’s cache of temporary files or (2) using Firefox.

Why am I getting popups when I view videos?

This is a function of Windows Media Player when playing some .wmv and .asf files. You can turn them off in version 9 by clicking on Tools/Options/Security and unchecking the box next to “Run script commands when present” or you can use a different video player, like IrfanView.

I can only see the top part of the page.

What happened to the thumbnails?

There is a setting in ZoneAlarm Pro which is supposed to block banner and skyscraper ads that causes this problem. We are working to resolve this but for now please set ad blocking to medium or uncheck the box to block banner/skyscraper ads at skinvideo.com.

How do I save images to my hard drive?

If you’re using Windows, press the right mouse button over the image and select ‘Save’ from the menu. If you’re using a Macintosh, hold down the mouse button over the image until a menu appears. Select ‘Save’.

Do you have any older pictures or videos

from before what is shown on the web site?

No, everything we have is online. We have to remove the oldest postings to make room for the new ones.
Miscellaneous

How can I contact Skin Video?

The best and fastest way to contact us is via our message form. Normally we will respond within 24 hours.

If you have problems, questions, comments, or suggestions, please let us know. Your feedback will help us improve our service.

How often are the groups updated?

Skin Video updates the groups several times a day. But please remember that Skin Video provides a web interface with which to view and search Usenet. We do not, however, have control over what/how often/how much individuals post to the individual Usenet groups. Therefore, even if the site updates every 6 hours, that is no guarantee that there will be new material in every single group every single time we update.

What do I do if I see what I think

is a legally questionable image or video?

Please use our Report Questionable Image/Video Form to notify us of questionable content. In your message please refer to the URL where we can find the offending image or video. We will review it, remove it, and store a checksum of the image/video in our database so that it doesn’t appear again.

How can I report a possible

copyright violation?

Please see our Copyright Information page for details.

get on my credit card?
